Terms of Use

1. Acceptance of terms

By creating an account or using the Canopy service ("Service"), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. The Service

Canopy is a family organisation application that provides shared calendars, notice boards, children's information storage, document storage, and related features. We reserve the right to modify or discontinue features of the Service at any time, with reasonable notice to subscribers.

3. Accounts

• You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.
• You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
• One family subscription covers both parents and any read-only members you invite.
• You must not share your login credentials with anyone outside your family.

4. Subscription and payment

• The current subscription price is £8.99 per family per month.
• Payment is processed by Stripe. By subscribing you agree to Stripe's terms of service.
• Subscriptions renew automatically. You may cancel at any time from your account settings — access continues until the end of the current billing period.
• We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days' notice to active subscribers.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to use Canopy to:

• Upload or share content that is illegal, abusive, harassing, or defamatory
• Attempt to access another family's data
• Reverse engineer, scrape, or interfere with the Service
• Use the Service in any way that could damage, disable, or impair it

6. Your content

You own the content you create in Canopy. By using the Service you grant us a limited licence to store, process, and display your content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you.

You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to share any content you upload, including documents and photos.

7. AI email processing

When you forward emails to your family's Canopy address, the content of those emails is processed by an AI to extract calendar events. By using this feature you consent to email content being sent to the AI provider for this purpose. We do not use your email content for any other purpose.

8. Court-ready exports

Canopy provides tamper-evident exports of family activity records. These exports are provided as a convenience. We make no warranty that any export will be accepted by any court or legal body. You should consult a legal professional regarding the admissibility of any records.

9. Limitation of liability

The Service is provided "as is". We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms. On termination, your data will be retained for 30 days before deletion, during which you may export it. After 30 days, all data is permanently deleted.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
